Game One - LSU 4, Florida 3
After LSU's high-scoring 10-0 win over Maryland in the semifinals, Florida looked to rebound in the best two-of-three series finals of the 2023 College Baseball World Series. Florida scored early off LSU starting pitcher Paul Skenes. A sacrifice fly by Florida's Wyatt Langford in the first inning scored Colby Halter for a quick 1-0 Florida lead and another sacrifice fly, this time in the third inning, gave the Gators a 2-0 lead. LSU responded in the fourth inning with two runs on two hits, including a game-tying home run by Dylan Crews. The Tigers added two more runs in the fifth inning when Tre' Morgan singled on a 1-2 curveball to drive in two more runs, giving LSU the 4-2 lead. Florida tacked on a run in the bottom of the eighth inning to bring the score to 4-3. The Gators loaded the bases against LSU reliever Eric Reyzelman with one out, and Sterlin Thompson scored on a wild pitch to trim LSU's lead to 4-3. Reyzelman escaped the inning without allowing further damage, and LSU closer Devin Fontenot retired the side in order in the ninth inning to clinch the win. LSU will have the opportunity to claim the 2023 College Baseball National Championship on Monday night at 7:00 PM ET on ESPN2.
